Rio de Janeiro State Council for Defence of Child and Adolescent
(Conselho Estadual de Defesa da Criança e Adolescente do Estado do Rio de Janeiro - CEDCA-RJ) This is a parity body that aims to follow and guarantee the rights of children and adolescents and to deliberate over public policies. NOVA follows and eventually takes part in temporary committees as invited organisation.

Permanent Popular Forum for Defence of Children and Adolescents of Rio de Janeiro State (Fórum Popular Permanente de Defesa das Crianças e dos Adolescentes do Estado do Rio de Janeiro - FDCA/ERJ) A forum comprised of entities from civil society whose mission is to defend and provide children and adolescents with assistance. Its competence is to propose and develop the articulation of its institutional members and to elect those members who will represent civil society in the State Council for Defence of Child and Adolescent. NOVA takes part in the Executive Commission of FDCA/ERJ.

Forum to Confront Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents
(Fórum de Enfrentamento à Violência Sexual contra Crianças e Adolescentes - FEVS-RJ) It is comprised of civil society and governmental entities, it aims to promote actions that give visibility and combat the phenomenon of sexual violence against children and adolescents. NOVA takes part in the Executive Secretary of FEVS-RJ.

Municipal Commission for the Elaboration of the Municipal Plan to Confront Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents (Comissão Municipal de Elaboração do Plano Municipal de Enfrentamento à Violência Sexual contra Crianças e Adolescentes) It is a temporary forum that aims to elaborate a municipal plan in accordance with the State and National Plans to Confront Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents. NOVA was invited to technically contribute with its knowledge and to collaborate with systematisation.

Municipal Forum for Defence of Children and Adolescents (Fórum Municipal de Defesa das Crianças e Adolescentes - Fórum - RIO) It is a forum comprised of non-governmental entities that aims to foster, subsidise and follow the guarantee of children and adolescents' rights. This forum also follows the Municipal Council for Defence of Child and Adolescent and nominates institutional members to be voted as counsellors.

In the adult homeless people and migrants area

National Forum for Studies about Adult Homeless People (Fórum Nacional de Estudos sobre População Adulta de Rua) This Forum congregates different institutions from civil society that develop works of assistance, following and researches about adult homeless people. Members come from many states of Brazil, such as São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and Bahia. NOVA represents Rio de Janeiro State in this forum.

Permanent Forum about Adult Homeless People of Rio de Janeiro (Fórum Permanente sobre População Adulta de Rua do Rio de Janeiro) It is a platform that congregates institutions from civil society that work with homeless people and aims to monitor and propose public policies for their benefit. NOVA takes part as technical supervisor.

In the area of Solid Waste

Garbage and Citizenship State Forum of Rio de Janeiro (Fórum Estadual Lixo e Cidadania do Rio de Janeiro - FELC/RJ) It is comprised of several institutions that work in areas related to the management of urban garbage and social issues. The main objectives of this Forum are: eradication of infancy-youthness labour in dump areas, providing them with social inclusion and citizenship; income generation for recyclables collectors' families, giving priority to selective garbage collection; and a radical change of the final destination of garbage, eradicating dump areas definitively. NOVA is a member of the Executive Secretary of FELC/RJ.

Independent Network of Recyclable Materials Collectors (Rede Independente de Catadores de Materiais Recicláveis - RICAMARE) It is an independent civil society platform where members defend common interests of recyclable materials collectors in Rio de Janeiro State. NOVA is a member of the Executive Secretary of RICAMARE.

In the Educational area

Latin American Board for Education of Adults (Conselho de Educação de Adultos da América Latina - CEAAL) It is a network of non-governmental organisations from 21 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean that works with popular education for democratic transformation of our societies, and for the attainment of peace and human rights. Network of Support to Literacy Action of Brazil (Rede de Apoio à Ação Alfabetizadora do Brasil - RAAAB) It articulates people, groups, governmental and non-governmental organisations that work in the literacy field and basic education for young people and adults, conceived as fundamental human rights and crucial elements to construct citizenship, aiming to build a arena for dialogue through seminars, meetings and common actions. Process of Articulation and Dialogue (Processo de Articulação e Diálogo - PAD) The Process of Articulation and Dialogue between European Ecumenical Agencies and the Brazilian Partners (PAD) aims to promote multilateral dialogue and the construction of a new cooperation pact. NOVA is a member of Southern Region of PAD.

Brazilian Association of Non-governmental Organisations (Associação Brasileira de ONGs - ABONG) It is a non profit organisation, democratic and pluralist, that aims to promote the interchange of experiences among entities that seek to widen citizenship, constitute and expand rights, social justice and to consolidate a participative democracy. NOVA is a member of Rio Region of ABONG (www. abong.org.br).

National Forum for Popular Participation (Fórum Nacional de Participação Popular - FNPP) It is comprised of NGOs and civil society organisations that articulate themselves to promote the interchange of participation experiences in the public management. They also promote the debate about the huge challenges that involve the democratisation of public power practices in its diverse platforms. NOVA represents the co-ordination of CEAAL in the FNPP (www.participacaopopular.org.br).
